Obituary of Richard Francis Hale
MARION, Va.
Richard Francis Hale, age 94, passed away Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va.
He was born June 4, 1923 in Roanoke Rapids, N.C. to the late Joseph Benjamin and Mary Jane Faucett Hale. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church in Sugar Grove, Va., and was an avid bowler.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Chrisman; and several siblings.
Richard is survived by the mother of his children, Mary Alice Hale of Petersburg, Va.; a daughter, Frances Landin of Vero Beach, Fla.; son, Waverly Hale and wife, Dawnna of Millville, N.J.; son-in-law, Dave Chrisman of Sandston, Va.; sister, Anita Whitby, of Lawrenceville, Va.; brother, Nathan Leon Hale and wife, Rookie of Chester, Va.; six grandchildren; and special friend, Dot Hubble of Marion, Va.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Mike Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Va. with Military Rites conducted by the U.S. Navy and Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
