Obituary of Thomas S. Ewald, Jr.
Rural Retreat, Va.
Thomas S. Ewald, Jr, age 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 24,1931 in Marion Va. to the late Thomas S. Ewald, Sr. and Eleanor Snider Ewald.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Martha Ewald Cox.
Tom served his country in the U. S. Airforce during the Korean War. He served his Lord in numerous capacities. He was a lifetime member of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church, and recently attended Highlands Fellowship. He retired from Brunswick Corp. after 34 years of dedicated and faithful service as an accountant. Above all, he was a devoted, and loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to anyone that met him. His family was his world!
Tom is survived by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth S. Ewald; children, Donna Ewald Johnson (Johnny) of Atkins, Va., Clay P. Ewald (Rebecca W.) of Marion, Va., Thomas S. (Todd) Ewald III (Leslie D.) of Roanoke, Va., Lynda E. Helton (Marvin) of Marion, Va. and Martha E. Walters (Pee Dee) of Rural Retreat, Va.; sisters-in-law Martha Jones (Bill) of Abingdon Va., Margaret Osborne (Robert) of Marion, Va., Mary Jones (Ronnie) of Marion Va., Patty Nunley (Jim) of Marion Va., 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Craig Gibson and Pastor Dave Cross officiating. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Rose Lawn Mausoleum with Military Rites conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
