Obituary of Vivian Wampler
MARION, Va.
Vivian G. Wampler, age 106, died August 14, 2017 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va.
She was born December 27, 1910 in Wythe County, Virginia to the late John and Ina Vaught Gilbert. Vivian was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a former member of Kings Grove United Methodist Church. She moved to Marion in 1969 and began babysitting, which became the love of her life. She also loved her garden, her church family and most of all, her own family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kent A. Wampler; three sisters and one brother.
Vivian is survived by her daughter, Helen Burkett; son, Don Wampler and wife, Brenda all of Marion, Va.; five grandchildren, Wesley Burkett and wife, Shelia of Gray, Tenn., Wayne Burkett and wife, Suzanne of League City, Tx., Donna Sheffler and husband, Gary of Wytheville, Va., Joanie Parks and husband, Will of Lexington, N.C. and Kris Wampler of Fort Mill, S.C.; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Emmitt Wilson and the Reverend David Woody officiating. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 11a.m. Kings Grove Cemetery, Crockett, Va. The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 5 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Attention: Treasurer, 720 Grace Street, Marion, VA 24354 or to Kings Grove Cemetery, 2202 Crockett Road, Crockett, Va. 24323.
