Obituary of Larry Edward Keyes

SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: LARRY EDWARD KEYES, age 74, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017, at his home.

Larry was the best dad, papaw and friend you could have ever wanted. He loved his flea markets, sports, and food. Larry would back his family 100 percent – even fight for them if he needed to. He loved talking with folks and running the Walmart of Sugar Grove. Mr. Keyes was a proud Army veteran and loved his country. Larry Edward Keyes will be a missed man by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ethel Keyes; brother, Gerald Keyes; and sister, Wanda Sue Parks.

Larry is survived by his wife, Dorothy Keyes of Sugar Grove, Va.; daughter, Sue Akers and husband, Jon of Sugar Grove, Va.; son, Jamie Edward Keyes and wife, Tammy of Sugar Grove, Va., brothers, Sonny Keyes and wife, Brenda of Ala., and Danny Keyes and wife, Dorothy of Sugar Grove, Va.; grandchildren, Jacob Harrington, Morgan Harrington, Hannah Harrington, Jordan Keyes, Dalton Keyes, and Aaron Keyes; great-grandson, Baby Everette; special sister-in-law, Glenna Keyes; special nephew, Carl Keyes; and many special sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law and family and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, July 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Billy Gwinn and Reverend David Medley officiating. Burial will follow in Bald Rock Cemetery in Flat Ridge, Va. Military honors will be conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
