Obituary of Catherine M. Rector

MARION, Va.

Catherine M. Rector, age 93, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017.

Ms. Rector was born in Smyth County, Va. to the late Raymond and Levonia Rector. She graduated from Marion High School and Marion College. After graduation, she moved to Bristol, Va. and worked for several businesses as a secretary and bookkeeper, including Dent and Burke Accounting. She returned to Marion, Va. and worked for Rector Oil and Supply until her retirement.

Ms. Rector is survived by one son, David Meek and special friend, Deborah Trail; brother, Joe Rector, Marion Va.; three grandchildren, Davean Haughn of Harding, Tenn., Angela M. Sciarra of Orange, Calif., and Michael Meek of Henderson, Tenn.; 10 great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.

The family would like to say special thanks to her caregiver, Cynthia Burge and Hospice of Southwest Virginia.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 12, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Dr. Michael Sciarra and Pastor John Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
