Obituary of Doris T. Robbins

MARION, Va.

Doris T. Robbins, age 78, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, Tenn.

Doris was a loving daughter, wife, mother and Granny Doris to her family. She was a saint and a favorite. With Doris, you didn't have to be blood to be family or cared for. She raised one or two extras who she loved, fed and clothed. Doris was straight forward, stern, but had the biggest nurturing heart you would have ever known. She was a friend and mentor to her daughters-in-law. Doris was the family go to on all things food, flowers and her boys. She was as good as Google. She was a big woman in her small frame. Doris loved and was loved, and she will be sadly missed.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel "Bob" Robbins; parents, Ray and Irma Testerman; and brother, Ted Tilson.

Doris is survived by her sons, Douglas "Buzz" Martin and wife, Terri of Damascus, Va., Joe Bill Johnson, Charlie Ray Johnson and wife, Angel of Bluff City, Tenn., and James "JR" Robbins and wife, Amanda of Max Meadows, Va.; brother, Charlie Bill Testerman and wife, Doris of Wytheville, Va.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 at 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Don Mutter officiating. Graveside services will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
