Obituary of Richard E Waddell

Richard E. Waddell of DeLand, Fla. died January 25, 2017.
He was born March 30, 1943 in Roanoke, Va.; the son of Ruth Mozelle Waddell and Gayle Warren. He was raised in Marion, Va. and graduated from Marion High School. He had degrees from the University of Virginia and UNC-Chapel Hill. Dick served as Library Director at Virginia Intermont College and as Library Director at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. He retired in 2006. Dick is survived by his wife Patricia Herbsleb Waddell; his daughter, Blair Waddell Gunter; his son, Andrew Vaught Waddell and four grandchildren, Emily McBee, Margaret, Genevieve, and Josephine Waddell.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 5, 2017, from 1 until 3 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Funeral Home, 237 E Main Street, Marion,Va., followed by a service at Ebenezer Lutheran Church located at 222 W Main Street, Marion, Va.
In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ebenezer Lutheran Church or the Wythe County Genealogical and Historical Association (115 E. Main St Wytheville, Va. 24382).
