Callie W. "Toots" Hoover
Callie Elizabeth "Toots" Williams Hoover of Marion Va. went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2017 at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob "Lee" and Gertrude "Gertie" Hill Williams of Saltville; her husband of 49 years, Clinton Eugene Hoover of Marion; one brother Harry "Bud" Williams and his wife Ruth of Marion; one sister Grace Cooper Hubbard, of Portsmouth, Va.
She is survived by her daughter Judy Hoover of Marion; son Henry and wife Missi Hoover of Marion; daughter Lorena "Renie" Hoover and her husband Jack Farmer of Marion; three grandchildren, Callie Helton and husband Bobby Bise of Marion; Clint Helton of Marion; Andy Hoover of Marion; one great grandchild Sam Bise of Marion; two special nieces Patricia "Pat" Williams of Marion; Gloria "Ginger" and Bob Johnson of Machipongo, Va.
Mrs. Hoover was the first woman elected to public office to the board of Supervisors representing the Royal Oak district. She served 8 years in that position beginning in 1975. She served on various government and community boards during this time. She is an original member of Cedars Baptist Church. She retired from the US department of Agriculture in 2008 after having served for 18 eighteen years in the position of family daycare specialist. She covered seven counties and two cities all over southwest Virginia in this capacity. She served as vice chairman of the of the Smyth County Republican Party as well as president of the Republican Women's Club of Smyth County.
Graveside services will be held Monday, May 1, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery with Mr. Isaac Freeman officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 4 until 6 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
