Obituary of Burley Osborne

CHILHOWIE, Va. BURLEY OSBORNE, age 83, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va. He was born September 24, 1933 in Scott County, Va. to the late J.L. and Rosie Osborne. Burley loved to preach and share God's word and sing gospel music. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Even as a child he was a hard worker, and this continued into his adult years working in the coal mines. Burley loved his family, as they loved him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 10 siblings. Burley is survived by his significant other, Altie Mae Shortridge; step-daughter, Charity Shortridge; three step-sons, Brian Lester and wife, Veronica, all of Chilhowie, Va., Steven Lester and wife, Susan of N.C. and Joey Lester and wife, Dare of Virginia Beach, Va.; biological children, Gary, Jeffery, Tony and Angel Osborne; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Burial will be held Friday, April 7, 2017 at 1 p.m. in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Va.
