She was a great teacher, but above all, she was a great person.
No matter what the age, it is still hard to lose a parent. May God bless and strengthen you during this time.

I so hate to hear of Mrs. Werth's recent passing. I was a math student of hers at Marion Senior High School and remember her fondly. Each time I would see her out, be it eating at a local restaurant or getting her hair done, she was always smiling and remembered me up until the last time I saw her a few months ago. Some of my best memories and times were while I was in school. Please accept my condolences and I pray that God grant you His peace and comfort during your time of grief.

What a wonderful legacy Mrs. Werth has left knowing that she taught most of us all we knew about Math! Over the years, I had a few, but immensely valuable, opportunities to visit Mrs.Werth in her beautiful private suite overlooking the serene landscape addition in the family's stately home, I would describe it as a piece of Heaven in Rural Retreat, even the name is descriptive. Peaceful.
We talked about everything we could remember. As young inquisitive girls, the slumber parties that must have awakened the entire neighborhood, and hiding outside were just a few memories. Thankfully, Wizzie and the family were gracious to allow us to stay up all night being silly with the Ouija Board and listening to the Beatles. So many secrets we shared, most of which we have forgotten over the years. However, we shall always treasure our private conversations over the years as we visited. Lacy didn't like Math, but I did and Mrs.Werth taught me well and then I shared with Lacy. Lacy was the gifted writer and Lacy helped me. And, we talked about the Presbyterians, I am not sure why. Mrs. Werth said Fred would explain...

It is very sad to hear of the death of one of Marion High School's best teachers. I had Mrs. Werth for three math subjects, and she was one excellent teacher who cared about her students. My condolences to Fred, Elizabeth, and entire family.

I had the good fortune of knowing Mrs. Werth for many years. She had the misfortune of trying to get Algebra II-Trig through my thick skull. Her dedication and tenacity helped me overcome my aversion to math. Beyond that, her encouragement for me to push myself academically stayed with me. Mrs. Werth was one of a handful of teachers who challenged me with high expectations for the work I was capable of doing, and I'll always be grateful for that gift she gave me.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Mrs. Werth. She was an excellent teacher and one of my favorites. She was such a positive influence on all of the students, who were fortunate enough to have her as a teacher at Marion Sr. High School. I will always appreciate her knowledge, her encouragement and her guidance. May she rest in peace.

Condolences, peace, healing and love to Fred and family. Mrs. Werth, one of my favorite teacher; she tried hard to teach me math but she had a great challenge . . . but she prepared me well for VA Tech's freshman math. My heart is with you.
