Obituary of Bertha Surber

MARION, VIRGINIA: BERTHA M. SURBER, age 59, widow of Thomas W. Surber, Jr., died Sunday, March 6, 2005 at her home. She loved fishing, was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and was a fantastic biscuit maker. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Ray Jessee, two sisters, and three brothers. Mrs. Surber is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Lawrence Dotson of Meadowview, Virginia; Shirley and Johnny Dotson of Glade Spring, Virginia; and Tina and J.T. Cregger of Marion, Virginia. One son, Stuart Surber of Saltville, Virginia. Two sisters, Juanita Wargo of Bristol, Tennessee and Ressie Blevins of Ashe County, North Carolina. Four brothers, Ottis Wyatt and Ambers Wyatt both of Glade Spring, Virginia; James Wyatt of Marion, Virginia; and Nelson Wyatt of Ashe County, North Carolina. Five grandchildren, Michael and Justin Dotson, Brittany and Johnny Lee Dotson, and Joel Cregger. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Two special friends, Bonnie Kegley and Lettie Myers. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Mike Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Wassum Cemetery, Atkins, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
