Obituary of Hattie Riggles Cornett

MARION, Va. HATTIE RIGGLES CORNETT, age 88, died Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va. She was a God fearing woman who loved the Lord. Hattie was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her and she was ready to go home to her Lord. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 40 years, Walter Vance Cornett; parents, Lee Roy and Rachel Elizabeth Hubble Riggles; step-son, Walter Vance Cornett, Jr.; brother, Herbert Riggles; and sister, Ella Mae Riggles King. Hattie is survived by three daughters, Linda C. Hubbard and husband, David of Axton, Va., Shelia C. Moore and husband, David of Petersburg, Va., and Barbara Pierce of Marion, Va.; sons, Donald V. Cornett and fiancé, Jennifer Southard of Marion, Va., Walter E. Cornett and wife, Tracy of Ridgeway, Va., and Robert Vance Cornett of Marion, Va.; sisters, Mary Conner of Wytheville, Va., Evelyn Hall of Chilhowie, Va., and Robena Teaster and husband, Dewey of Marion, Va.; special friend, Sue Stone of Baltimore, Md.; nine grandchildren, Alicia, Bridget, Eric, Deanna, Ruth Ann, Wayne, Lisa, Maria and Jennifer; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her loving dog, Spot. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Burial will follow in Anderson Hill Cemetery, Troutdale, Va.
