Obituary of Thomas James John
MARION, Va.: Thomas James John, age 60, from the D.C. area, died Thursday, June 2, 2016.
He was born January 17, 1956 in Sitka, Alaska, and grew up in the D.C. area. He served honorably in the Army and continued to be an advocate for the military by inspiring others to make a career of the military. Tom went on to be a Hospice Nurse enabling him to serve and help others. He loved to read, and was a monumental wealth of knowledge. He loved to sail and took great pleasure in taking family out on the water. Tom’s greatest attribute was his herculean loyalty and tremendous love for his friends and family. One couldn’t have a better hero or a truer friend than Thomas James John. He had a great love for his nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, and friends. But his greatest love was for his wife. Tom was loved by many and will be missed.
Tom is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sandra Jo John of Fredericksburg, Va.; mother, Jean John of Annapolis, Md.; brother, Mark O’Brien of New Port Richie, Fla.; sister, Sue O’Sendorf of Apple Valley, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Fredericksburg, Va. with President Starkey officiating. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will take place at a later date.
