I am so sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. I remember the day you brought the flowers over to Mom's (Helen Austin) and told us about your Mom. You have been thru so much these past several months. Your Dad, Mom, Mal and yourself are very special people and mean so much to our family. Becky:
So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. She was a gracious and funny lady. I always remember how highly my Dad and Mom thought of your Father and Mother. They created for the community of Marion, two businesses with a great deal of respect and dignity. This tradition has been carried on by you and your late brother Mal. You were always very dedicated to the care of your Father and Mother. By growing up in Marion, I consider myself fortunate to have known your Mother, Father and Brother. To Becky my friend from high school, I was so sorry to hear your Mother died. I just heard it this morning from my Mother, Katherine. There are so many memories from our years growing up together and then later years like when my husband and I went with Grover and Katherine to Ham and Mimosas and Bloody Mary brunches at the Brown's home. Your mom even taught me the best way to clean my stainless steel sink!! My husband remembers that distinctly. There were so many fun times. Then we all went our own ways and amazing we both adopted children. Both your Mom and Dad were so fun and grateous people. I will keep you in my prayers. I have known Irene my whole life. She was always so good to me. She was a wonderful lady! My heart goes out to Becky and Emily.

Growing up with Mal, I was fortunate to know his parents, Mr.and Mrs. Brown, as they tolerated our adolescent shenanigans. Mrs. Brown was a pleasant, fun-loving person who had a special manner of keeping us in check. As we all grew older and I had the opportunity to visit with Irene, it was obvious that her business acumen was astute and Mal had learned a great deal from his mother. Marion is fortunate to have had Irene Brown as one of it's distinguished citizens. May she rest in peace and enjoy her reunion with Malcolm and Mal.

I am so sorry for your loss. When I first came to Marion, more than thirty years ago, Irene was so very kind to me. She was always a very gracious lady. Over the years when we had to make funeral arrangements for family members, she was of great assistance to us. I always enjoyed seeing her at church and around town. You have my deepest sympathy.
