Obituary of Walter J. Dennison

MARION, Va.: WALTER J. DENNISON, age 87, went to be with his wife, Beulah and daughter, Shonie in their heavenly home, Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion Va. He was born June 5, 1928 in Marion, Va. to the late William Clayton and Ollie May Dennison. Walter proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and he was retired from VDOT after 37 years of service. Walter was a faithful member of the Adwolfe Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a Trustee. He enjoyed working in his garden and sharing vegetables with friends and neighbors. He also greatly enjoyed fishing. Walter was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He is survived by two daughters, Darlene Lundy and husband Jimmy of Galax, Va. and Rhonda Stamper of Marion, Va.; two sons, Roger Lee Dennison and wife, Sherry and Bo Dennison and wife, Tina all of Marion, Va.; four sisters; three brothers; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; special sister-in-law, Janie Rich; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved K-9 companions, Rufus and Freddie. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Taylor and Pastor J.C. Thompson officiating. Graveside services will be held Sunday, March 13, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Thomas Cemetery, Marion, Va. The family will receive friends Saturday from 5 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
