Obituary of Brenda Blevins Woods
MARION, Va.; BRENDA BLEVINS WOODS, age 66, died Monday, January 11, 2016 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Va.
She was a faithful member of Pugh Mountain Freewill Baptist Church and was the cornerstone of her family. Brenda loved family gatherings especially at Christmas. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and best friend. She loved God and always placed him first in her life! Mom enjoyed attending church, simply loved children, and was well known for sneaking candy. She enjoyed life and everything about it; from playing cards, watching westerns, listening to music or taking long car rides with her husband. She had a great sense of humor and was often cutting up and play fighting with her family. Her joyful, loving presence will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her father Harold W. Blevins; brother, Harold Jean Blevins; baby sister, Kathy Sue Blevins; maternal grandparents, Vester Lewis Delp and Lillie Delp Thomas; and father and mother-in-law, Claude and Okie Woods.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Richard Wayne Woods; two daughters, Bobbie Jean Woods and special friend, Bobby Joe Phillips, Rebecca Woods Kidd and husband, Glenn; mother, Elizabeth “Bobbie” Blevins Teaster and husband, Herbert; all of Marion, Va.; sister, Sharon Blevins Crigger and husband, David of Atkins, Va.; sister-in-law, Shirley Blevins; special granddaughter, Tori Beth Woods; several nieces, including special niece, Melissa Woods and several nephews including her “special boy,” Justin Combs; and special friend, Caitlin Puckett.
