So sorry to hear the news about Mrs. Matthews.
I contacted her back in 1998 about a genealogical question, and she kindly sent me parts of "Genealogy of the Sexton Family from 1400 down to 1943," and explained that this was written by her great-uncle Thomas Campbell Sexton, MD. I offered to pay for copying and postage, but she refused. This was a good lesson, that generosity to cousins, even distant cousins, is a key part of genealogy. (Distant cousins --our last common ancestor was George Sexton, died around 1690 in Westfield MA.)
I was looking at the document recently to see if it had any information that might help another distant cousin who found me by DNA testing (last common ancestor the same George 'Sexton). I realized that the document seems to have a key piece of information that might show that, despite all the claims on genealogy web sites, George Sexton of Westfield was not George Sexton from Limerick Ireland. So I was looking up Allen Hale Sexton, Thomas Campbell Sexton, and Mrs. Matthews, and saw the obituary.
I'm grateful for her generosity and glad our paths crossed, if only briefly.
