Obituary of Frances Bowman

MARION, VIRGINIA: Frances Noralee "Nora" Bowman, a resident of Marion, Va., danced up to Heaven to reunite with her Husband, Walter Blaine Bowman, and other loved ones who had predeceased her, on November 28, 2015. A born again Christian, she left this world singing God's praises and thanking him for all her blessings. Born on November 19, 1937 in Russell County, Hansonville, Va. to William Edward and Bessie Frances Salyers Boothe, Nora enjoyed a rewarding life with some of her years spent in Canton, Ohio, but the majority of her life spent in Virginia. Nora married Walter Blaine Bowman on June 22, 1957. She and Blaine were the proud parents of Lynda Bowman Barker (Charlie) of Marion, Brenda Bowman of Abingdon and Charlie Bowman (Carol) of Danville; three grandchildren, Charlie Blaine Barker of Marion, Codi Bowman of Front Royal and Charlie Walter Bowman of Danville; four great-grandchildren; Emmalyn and Ethan Barker of Christiansburg and Shane Phillip and Kaylee Ann Henry of Front Royal, Va. Nora was preceded in death by her spouse, Walter Blaine Bowman, her parents, William Ed and Bessie Salyers Boothe; her siblings, Earnest William, Claude, Charlie, Virginia Pauline, George, Clyde and Anilou. Two sisters survive her, Opal Boothe Sims and Hazel Boothe-Brown of Powhatan, Va.; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Bowman James of Ohio and Roxanne Schrader Boothe of South Carolina; and her two treasured companions, Joy and Lucky who brought her much joy and could be counted on to be by her side, always looking out for her and protecting her. Nora was a graduate of Pocahontas High School in Pocahontas, Va. where she lived for many years with her family. When her husband, Blaine, served our country in Germany, she joined him and lived there for quite some time. She was instrumental in starting the Boothe-Salyers Reunion in 1991 and the family members just celebrated the 25th reunion on September 6, 2015. Nora had attended all the reunions, but her health challenges prevented her from making an appearance at the 25th reunion. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of Hospice of Southwest Virginia for their compassion and caring during this difficult time. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation in Nora's name to the charity of your choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service and Crematory is honored to serve the Bowman Family.
