What to say about my Uncle Mal... There is so much. He was funny ... I loved the stories he told me about well ... anything using his own special flare. He was caring ... He went above and beyond when I needed him the most. He stood up for me, unwavering, when I was in a battle during one of the hardest times in my life. He was a wonderful Husband... He loved my Aunt Sharon with his whole heart. They were perfect together each complimenting the other. He was a wonderful Father... He loved his son so much. He would light up with just the mention of his name. He invested his time wholeheartedly to Malcom's life and everyone can see result of that investment... of that unconditional love. He was a wonderful Father-in-Law... Though I wasn't around to see I can tell by the tears in Jenna's eyes and grief in her heart. He was a wonderful Grandfather... He loved that little girl like no other! He was a wonderful Great Uncle... The times he spent with Mathias he will remember always. The simple gift of a Halloween bag meant so much to him. He still has it and when we unpacked it a few weeks ago he talked about that day he spent with his Uncle Mal. He lived his life well. He loved well. He was a huge presence in the lives of all who knew him and there will now be a huge hole in all of those lives. But... I am so thankful because of the salvation of Christ we will see each other again someday! I am so Thankful because God's Grace is sufficient He can fill that huge hole in our hearts. I am so Thankful Mal's family is Not alone because God loves them so much He will wrap them in His arms and give them the Comfort Only He can give. And, I am so Thankful and privileged to call Mal my Uncle and say that he made a huge impact in my life. With all the love in our hearts to you, Teena, Kevin, and Mathias

Our heartfelt condolences, thoughts, and prayers are extended to the Brown family including his wonderful sister Becky. I have known Mal since being a very young kid and was happy to re-establish our friendship during the passing of my brother Johnny and mother Anne over the past 4 years. Mal was the same from the early days until my last contact with him. My sister and I fully appreciated Mal for his friendship and his staff for their professionalism. We know he will be missed by many. Love and Best Regards

Words cannot express how sad and hurt I am feeling. Mal was a special person and a dear and good freind to our family. I always remember the times that my mom Peggy Myers would fix him and Kenny, beans and cornbread whenever they had a funeral in Ceres, or buried some of our family. He always spoke to you whenever you seen him out in town. Praying for his family and his work family. I cannot imagine the hurt and devastation they are all feeling. God bless you all and may he wrap his arms around you and comfort you in this time of need.

When my grandmother Gavesta Powell Andrews died in or around 1979, I traveled from New York where I was attending graduate school to Marion for the services. The night of the visitation, I began "poking" around the funeral home and found myself in the prep room. Mal's dad found me in there but didn't scold or kick me out. I told him I had an interest in funeral service and he showed me around. Some 25 years later, after being a college administrator for 25 years, I finally decided to go to mortuary school in Cincinnati and became a licensed funeral director. I now work at Whitten Funeral Home in Lynchburg and at Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville primarily focusing on preneed. If it hadn't been for the Brown family I may never have become a funeral director.

Sharon and family, There are absolutely no words to say that could possibly make this easier.... Mal was one of a kind, yes he was... it's so rare to find the right person the first time and you two nailed it, Sharon. You had such a wonderful life together. Mal pretty much worshipped you and I know you did him. I'm sure everyone is trying their hardest to express their gratitude for all Mal has done for us when we needed it most and I am certainly no exception. And, for the love of animals!!!! You guys have rescued so many.... Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. So very sorry. That's just about all I know to say! Genie. (You know where to find me!)
