We regret that we lost touch with Mr. Franks when we moved out of Smyth County but consider ourselves fortunate to have known him if even for a short time. Many people might think it strange for a couple in their 30s to be friends with a man in his 80s. But the truth is he had a spirit younger than ours and we could hardly keep up with him. Hearing stories of his pure love for Trula served as a reminder for us to cherish the time we have together and never to take each other for granted.

My family had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Franks a few years ago at an IHOP in Virginia. He had just been to the doctor and we were headed back to Alabama after visiting Monticello and Montpelier. There he was sitting alone and our hearts went out to him....my 10 year old daughter started crying. We introduced ourselves and then spent the next couple of hours enjoying his company and hearing so many wonderful stories about his life and the love of his life, Trula. Since that meeting my family has prayed for Mr. Franks every single day....I am sad he is gone but at the same time so happy for him to be in heaven reunited again with Trula. Rest in peace dear Mr. Franks. We love you.

I was so sorry to hear that JC had passed away. He was truly one of a kind and so very special. I had the honor of working with him and sharing an office many years ago. He was incredibly intelligent, but so down to earth and practical, which is rare. His sense of humor knew no bounds. He was always upbeat and full of fun. I always felt better after talking with JC. He will surely be missed by so many. I offer my most heartfelt condolences to his family.

To all the friends and family of JC, My heart goes out to all who loved JC, he truly was a fun person to spend time with.and I will greatly miss him. I'm happy that he finally is with Trula, where he has wanted to be for so long. I am glad to have known him, and happy we got to spend so much time together. Rest in peace JC.
