Obituary of Almedia Perkins

SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: ALMEDIA G. PERKINS, age 89, died Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Almedia was born January 20, 1926 in Ashe County, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Jack" Perkins; mother, Kate Goins Dewitt; son, Virgil Ray Perkins; four brothers, Ralph Dewitt, June Dewitt, Elbert Dewitt, and Edward Goins all of Dayton, OH, and sister, Louise G. Miller of Fleetwood, NC. Almedia is survived by 3 daughters and Ruby Kate Johnson and husband, Dave of Konnarock, VA, Carol Ann Roberts, and Brenda Marie Alford and husband, Richard; one son, Charles William "Bill" Perkins all of Sugar Grove, VA; eleven grandchildren, Kathy, Tony, Chucky, Rachel and husband, Steve, Brenton, Zach and Lauren, all of Sugar Grove, VA, Becky and Rhonda and husband Steve, of Marion, VA, Monica and husband Shawn of Murfreesboro, TN, and William Travis of Roanoke, VA; eight great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, very special family friend, Ms. Frances Lee of Sugar Grove, VA, her friends from the Church of God of Prophecy and Hospice of Southwest Virginia. Funeral Service will be held Friday, August 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the Church of God of Prophecy, Flat Ridge Road, Sugar Grove VA with Pastor Bob Baker and Dr. Robyn Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Slemp Cemetery, Sugar Grove, VA. A reception will be held at the Church of God of Prophecy immediately following the burial.
