Obituary of Donna Ratliff

MARION, VIRGINIA: DONNA DOWDY "NANNIE" RATLIFF, age 87, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie, Virginia. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Donna was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known as "Nannie" to not only her family but to everyone who knew and loved her. "Nannie" always put her family first in her life as well as her extended family, which included everyone she met. She welcomed visitors into her home with open arms and should those visitors arrive during the Christmas season, they too were to have a gift under the tree just as the rest of the family. Her heart was generous beyond compare and she will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have her as their "Nannie". She was preceded in death by her husband, John Benjamin Ratliff, Jr.; grandson, Graham Ratliff; son-in-law, Keith Kilby; and two Boston Terriers, Blossom and Barney. Donna is survived by her daughter, Susan Kilby of Marion, Virginia; sons, Mike Ratliff and wife, DeEtta of Bristol, Tennessee and John "Charlie" Ratliff and wife, Joan of Smyrna, Tennessee; seven grandchildren, Travis Kilby, Seth Kilby and wife, Susan, Beth Brown and husband, Andrew, John Ratliff, Jeremy Ratliff and wife, Lauren, Spencer Ratliff and Garrett Ratliff; great-grandchildren, Drew Brown, Zach Brown, Gavin Ratliff, Tyler Kilby and Miller Ratliff; two step-grandchildren, Robert Stanley and Jon Michael Chambless; and eight step-great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, April 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
