Obituary of Geneva Shepherd
MARION, VIRGINIA: GENEVA BLEVINS SHEPHERD, age 87 passed away after a long battle with Parkinson's disease on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Virginia.
Mrs. Shepherd was a loving mother, nana and wife of 48 years and a devoted caregiver to her mother, father and husband. She attended and graduated from Konnarock Training School and was a long standing member of the Lutheran Church. Her gentle spirit and sweet smile will be missed by a family who loved her very much.
Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Shepherd; parents, Jont and Edith Blevins; sister, Reva Trivett; and grandson, Jonah Hamm
She is survived by her daughter, Jean Hamm and husband, Robert of Rural Retreat, Virginia; three sons, Robert Ray Shepherd and wife, Sue of Pataskala, Ohio, William Shepherd and Patricia Elswick of Rural Retreat, Virginia and James Shepherd and wife, Nancy of Richmond, Virginia; two sisters, Jettie Yeatts and Lola Faircloth; four brothers, Ben Blevins, Len Blevins, Norman Blevins, and Grayson Blevins; grandchildren, Joy Hamm, Brian Shepherd, Matthew Shepherd, Courtney Hamm and Mary Lauren Shepherd; great-grandchild, Lily Shepherd and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Rural Retreat, Virginia with Pastor Jonathan Hamman officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel and most anytime at the home of Jean Hamm in Rural Retreat, Virginia.
