Obituary of Dorothy Kiser
MARION, VA: DOROTHY LAMBERT KISER
Dorothy Lambert Kiser, age 86, of Marion died Friday, September 26, 2014 at her home following an extended illness.
Born July 30, 1928 in Bluefield West Virginia, she was the youngest of five children of the late Trula Faye Grady and Paris Harvey Lambert. Dottie, as she was known to her family and friends was a 1946 graduate of Bramwell High School and went on to attend Concord College in Athens, West Virginia. While at Concord, she met George William Kiser who she married on December 26, 1948. Following George's graduation, they moved to Marion where she worked for the Smyth County School System for a number of years. In 1976 she went to the Smyth County Community Hospital working in Hospital Administration for eighteen years retiring in 1994. Dottie was a faithful member of the Marion Baptist Church having served in numerous capacities, a member of the Smyth County Community Hospital Auxiliary, was an avid bridge player, and enjoyed many good times at the Lifetime Wellness Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1977, her mother-in-law, Ada Lewis Kiser in 1998, and three brothers, Paris Harvey Lambert, Jr., James Ernest Lambert and John Grady Lambert.
Surviving are two sons, Dr. William David Kiser and wife, Karen of Marion, Virginia, and James Donald Kiser of Spartanburg, South Carolina; one sister, Mary Lambert Danielson of Winter Park, Florida; three grandchildren, Stephanie Dawn Kiser of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Amy Elizabeth Kiser and husband, Kurt Schemper of Glendale, California, Brett Christopher Kiser and wife, Catherine of Lebanon, New Hampshire.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon, September 28, 2014 at 3 o'clock at the Marion Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Mark Ross officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 5 until 8 o'clock at the home of David and Karen Kiser, 155 Countryside Drive and also following the service at the Church. Committal Services will be held Monday, September 29, 2014 at 12 o'clock noon at Rose Lawn Cemetery.
The family will be forever grateful to Tammy Dinsmore and Barbara Call for the love and care they gave Dottie allowing her to stay in her home for the past two years.
