Obituary of Garnie Dolinger

MARION, VIRGINIA: GARNIE AVERY DOLINGER, age 84, died Saturday, January 1, 2005 in Smyth County Community Hospital. Born March 2, 1920 in Grayson County to the late John and Laura Davis Dolinger. He served in the CCC's and helped construct Hungry Mother Park. Mr. Dolinger was a veteran of World War II serving in Europe in the United States Army. He retired from Arlington County after 27 years of service. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Enice Pruitt and Emaline Maguire, three brothers, Mack Dolinger and infants, Smith and Earl. Mr. Dolinger is survived by his wife, Lola Osborne Dolinger of Marion, Virginia. One son, Philip Dolinger of Herndon, Virginia. Two sisters, Callie Roberson of Hortense, Georgia and Emegene Wyatt of Chilhowie, Virginia. Five brothers, Jesse Dolinger, Alfred Dolinger, Rosevelt Dolinger all of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia; Jack Dolinger of White Top, Virginia; and Bradley Dolinger of Parsonsburg, Maryland. Two grandchildren, James Avery Dolinger and Amy Beth Dolinger. Two step-daughters, Judi Harrison of Piney Flats, Tennessee and Linda Blair of Ocala, Florida. Three step-grandchildren. One step great-grandson. Several Nieces and Nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 5, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Avery Sheets and Rev. Dennis Eller officiating. Burial will follow in Haw Orchard Cemetery, Grayson County, Virginia, where military rites will be conducted by Frances Marion VFW Post # 4667. The Family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
