Obituary of George Goundie

MARION, VIRGINIA: GEORGE "SHORTY" GOUNDIE, age 51, died Saturday at his home in Marion, Virginia. George was born in Oklahoma to the late Harry and Loretta Goundie. You never saw "Shorty" without a smile or a kind word. If he wasn't fishing he was talking about it. He loved to mow his yard and was always ready to lend a hand and help his neighbor. He was a faithful member of Antioch Greater Love Ministries in Marion. On Sundays after church, George was watching his favorite Nascar Driver, Dale, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Goundie; daughter, Melissa Goundie and husband, Frederick Morrison, both of Abingdon; two sons, Michael Goundie of Oklahoma and Marcus Goundie of Oregon; two step-sons, Salvador Thompson and Nicolas Thompson, both of Iowa; God-son, Bryon Overton of Virginia; sister, Tabatha Goundie, Oregon. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Antioch Greater Love Ministries in Marion, Virginia with Bishop Nolan Wolfe officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Antioch Greater Love Ministries.
