No one will know who I am but we lived next door to Dave and Julia in the 1940's on Fairground Hill. Our house was on the corner above them, bordering on the race track. My mother and Mrs. Martin were friends. I remember being in the kitchen at Martins many times. Mrs. Martin gave us "samples" of recipes she was trying; she wet my hair to see if my new permanent wave had "taken"; I told Mrs.Martin when one of my little brothers had head lice and Mother was furious because the knowledge of that meant that we were socially disgraced forever. There was no school bus service for us so Mother asked Merian to walk with me--she was older, we had no car. Can you imagine a 6-year-old walking alone from there to school? I remember a story about Popeye but I don't know if it was true or a town myth--when he first obtained his driver's permit he came down the hill in front of Marion High, failed to make the curve and went into the creek. True? Another memory--when I was about 12 years old I had one enormous crush on Don!! My sympathy and best wishes to you all. Patty---daughter of Audie and Vivian Price

I have not seen Don for several years but always remember him as a great & a good friend. He & I were good friends in the fifties & spent a lot of time together. He loved Marion & his family & will be missed by many. I would have attended his visitation & funeral had I have known. Sorry for your loss, I miss seeing Don & his lovely wife at Emory & Henry football games . We lost a good person & my condolences go out to his family. Bob Young Radford
