Obituary of James Blevins
MARION, VIRGINIA: JAMES G. BLEVINS, age 84, died Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tennessee.
James was born December 27, 1929 in Smyth County, Virginia to the late William Dudley and Mary Ellen Crewey Blevins. He was a longtime member of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church; a highly decorated Veteran of the U.S. Army having proudly served his country in the Korean War and was a John Deere dealer for over 40 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; Dudley, Leon, David and Bobby Blevins; and one sister, Sarah Jane Blevins Hash.
James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Repass Blevins; one son, Alan G. Blevins, both of Marion, Virginia; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Blevins of Swords Creek, Michigan; three brothers, John L. Blevins and wife, Mary of Marion, Virginia, Howard Blevins and wife, Gracie Mae of Canyon, Texas and Joe P. Blevins and wife, Judy of Marion, Virginia; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Repass Jones and husband, Jimmy of Bristol, Tennessee; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend William Schoeneman Jr. officiating. Graveside service will be Sunday, 9:00 a.m. at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Marion, VA. The family will receive friends following the funeral service.
