Obituary of Stonewall Harris
MARION, VIRGINIA: STONEWALL JACKSON HARRIS, age 82, died Friday, March 7, 2014 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Virginia.
He was born June 17, 1931 in Smyth County to the late Tobbie C. and Lena Farmer Harris. In his youth Stonewall worked as a farmer. He then moved to Indiana where he worked in a factory as a casket maker until moving back to Smyth County and working at American Furniture until his retirement. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Stonewall is survived by his wife, Rosena Mae Harris of Marion, Virginia; one step- daughter, Juanita Mae Parks of Marion, Virginia; three step-sons, Charles Rodney Shew of Martinsville, Virginia, David Eugene Shew, and Dennis Ray Shew both of Marion, Virginia; three sisters, Ella Mae Tuggle of Marion, Virginia; Jean Cregger of Chilhowie, Virginia, and Jennie Riley of Lebanon, Virginia; two brothers, Edd Harris of Mouth of Wilson, Virginia, and Bill Harris of Marion, Virginia and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend David Neitch and Reverend Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Wassum Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
