Obituary of Virginia Cook

MARION, VIRGINIA: VIRGINIA HEMBY COOK, Age 91, died Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Francis Marion Manor. Mrs. Cook was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and the Smyth County Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Cook; her parents, Moses and Beatrice Hemby; and two brothers. She is survived by one son, Dr. Charles E. Cook of Marion, Virginia; two grandchildren, Chris Cook and wife Julia of Raleigh, North Carolina, Cori Stamper and Husband Dustin of Marion, Virginia; three great-grandchildren, Gage, Liam and Addisyn Stamper; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the Francis Marion Manor nursing home and staff for the kindness and care of Mrs. Cook and special thanks to Cathy Cook, Edna Widener and Sharon Peterson. Funeral Services will be held Monday, December 23, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Jonathan Jonas officiating. Burial will be private in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
