Obituary of Ethel Bivens

MARION, VIRGINIA: ETHEL CHRISTINA BIVENS, age 89, passed away on December 12, 2013. She was born to George and Nancy Dehart Weddle on June 26, 1924. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Ernest J. Bivens. Ethel was also preceded in death by two sons, Freddie Jay Bivens and Donald Ray Bivens; two brothers and two sisters. Ethel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. She was totally devoted to her family and will be greatly missed by them. She was a member of the Marion Seventh-Day Adventist Church and was very active in the community services programs of the church. She was also greatly involved in the Marion Extension Homemakers Club. Ethel is survived by one daughter; Nancy Bivens Cress of Marion, two sons; Ernest J. Bivens Jr. of Marion and Mike Bivens and wife Sharon of Virginia Beach, four granddaughters and four great grandchildren. Special thanks to each one of the many caregivers who provided tremendous love, care and support over the past three years who have become extended members of our family. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor David Tripp officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery, Bastian, Virginia. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 pm until time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
