Obituary of John Dix

ATKINS, VIRGINIA: JOHN RUSSELL DIX, age 80, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, Virginia. He was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church and enjoyed participating in the church choir. Mr. Dix was retired from Brunswick with over 30 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia "Pat" Dix and his sister, Imogene Caldwell. Mr. Dix is survived by two daughters, Diana Armstrong and husband, Jim of Marion, Virginia and Terri Harris and husband, Mike of Christiansburg, Virginia; one son, John Dix and wife, Lisa of Bowling Green, Kentucky; one brother, Robert "Bob" Dix and wife, Ann of Marion, Virginia; one brother-in-law, Roy Caldwell; nine grandchildren, John Russell Dix, Matthew Robert Dix, Jeffery Michael Dix, Kimberly Nicole Dix, Alesia Lynn Crewey, Michael Dwayne Harris, Makinsey Shay Armstrong, Patricia Danielle Harris and John Reagan Harris; and one niece, Karla Starkey. Funeral Services will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Emmitt Wilson officiating. Entombment will follow in Rosewood Mausoleum, Rural Retreat, Virginia with Military Rites conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
