Obituary of Carson Peters
SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: CARSON E. PETERS, SR., age 70, died Friday, December 03, 2004 at his home. Born December 30, 1933 in Towson, Maryland, to the late Frank and Nona Wastler Peters, he was a faithful member of The Church of God, Friendly Circle, Marion, Virginia. Mr. Peters was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the United States Army where he received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart, and was a member of the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post #4667. Mr. Peters was a retired Smyth County school bus driver and an excellent craftsman and woodworker. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Haga Peters of Sugar Grove, Virginia. Two sons and daughters-in-law, C. Ernie, Jr. and Kathy Peters of Sugar Grove, Virginia, and C. Bruce and Cindy Peters of Emory, Virginia. One sister, Jane E. Colley of Edgewood, Maryland. Two grandchildren, Pete Peters, III, and Heather Peters. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, December 5, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Paul Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Springs Cemetery, Camp, Virginia, where military rites will be conducted by the Francis Marion V.F.W. Post #4667. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
