Dear Mike~ I write with the sadness I feel for you and your whole family at this loss. What a shining light your dad was for all who had the good fortune to meet him and work with him in his many endeavors. He clearly embodied the virtue of service above self. I pray that warm memories help you smile and see you through these tough days. All best wishes, Jane Woods

Shirley, Mike, Cole and all of Mr. Guy's family. The Lord took home a special angel. He was a good man whom I deeply respected and admired. I remember when he was mayor and he and Mrs. Guy used to come to Hardee's every morning for breakfast. He always had a smile on his face. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

I am forever indebted to Marshall, as well as his brothers, for being a kind, loving part of my early years when my father, Robert Anderson, and later my mother, Mary Anderson, ran the Smyth County News. Those days with Joe Stephenson at the lineotype (and as Santa Claus) are forever some of the best of my memories. The "guys" put up with me and my sister as we wandered around some very interesting machinery as they tried to workThe things that Marshall went on to accomplish are truly wonderful. I saw him at my sister's memorial in Marion over a year ago and it was a fine and treasured meeting. My deepest condolences to the large family who will now miss him. Charles Sever was kind enough to let me know of his passing.
