Obituary of David Holmes
SAN JOSE, COSTA RICA: DAVID ANDREW HOLMES, age 57, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 in San Jose, Costa Rica. A graduate in the Class of 1973 at Marion Senior High School, Andrew was graduated magna cum laude from East Tennessee State University. He was with National Restaurant Consultants and had opened restaurants throughout the United States and in several foreign countries, including Saudi Arabia and Honduras. He owned and operated the BaBaloo Inn, located between Manuel Antonio and Quepos, Costa Rica.
He was preceded in death by his parents David "Gene" and Roselyn Helms Holmes, grandparents Roy B. and Pearle Helms and Charles and Margaret Holmes, sister-in-law Melanie Spencer and father-in-law Donald Spencer.
Andrew is survived by his wife, Faye Spencer Holmes of Costa Rica; one sister, Rebecca Holmes of Marion, Virginia; one brother, Johnathan Holmes; two nieces, Jessica and Kelsey Holmes, both of Johnson City, Tennessee; uncles and aunts David "Pat" Helms and wife, Susie; Martha Hoots and husband, Clyde; Mary Jo Price; Sam Holmes and wife, Georgia; Shelva Jean Chapman and husband, Tommy; and Nancy Smith; and many cousins. In addition, he is survived by his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Spencer, of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law Cindy Lindlein and husband, Jim, of Las Vegas, Nevada; nieces, Grace and Neals Lindlein, of California, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins-in-law. He is also survived by his four-legged children: his dogs, Coco and Max, and his cat, Alpha.
A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Friday, August 30, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Holston Hills Community Golf Course. Burial will be private at the Baptist Cemetery in Glade Spring, Virginia.
