Obituary of Harold Riggs

MARION, VIRGINIA: HAROLD R. RIGGS, age 80, passed away Monday, April 29, 2013 at Smyth County Community Hospital. Harold was born January 20, 1933 in Beaufort, South Carolina. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and a very loving, husband, father and grandfather. Harold was a Master Automobile Technician and worked for Bruce Flournoy Ford in Norfolk, Virginia until his retirement in 1979. He was a skilled carpenter, and gardener as well as a 32nd degree Mason. He is survived by his wife Peggy Ferguson Riggs of Marion, Virginia; two sons, Michael Riggs and wife, Reverend Patricia Riggs of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Mark Riggs and wife, Sue of Clifton, Virginia; two grandchildren, Aubrey Riggs and husband, Jarrid of San Diego, California and Robert Riggs of Virginia Beach, Virginia; five great-grandchildren, several family members, many friends, his dog Chewey and his cat Missey. Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jonathan Jonas officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the church parlor. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 115 South Church Street, Marion, VA 24354.
