Obituary of Elmer Myers
RICH VALLEY, VIRGINIA: ELMER EUGENE MYERS, age 76, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at the home of his sister in Rich Valley, Virginia.
He was born August 1, 1936 to the late Kent and Etta Hayden Myers. He was a hard working and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother who would do anything for his family. Elmer also proudly served his community as a longtime member of the Nebo Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Sue Hall Myers; two children, Gregory and Tammy Myers; brother, Wallace Myers; and three sisters, Edith Gillespie, Mary Shupe and Nora Atwell.
Elmer is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Renea Waddell of Rich Valley, Virginia, Angie and Sidonio Ortiz of Ceres, Virginia, and Christie and Tim Gross of Speedwell, Virginia; one son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Rachel Myers of Rich Valley, Virginia; one sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Goose Somerville of Rich Valley, Virginia; mother-in-law, Lenora Hall of Rich Valley, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Scott Myers, Thomas Waddell, Wayne Dennis, Sarah Ortiz, T. J. Gross, Asia Gross and Caitlin Myers; three great-grandchildren, Devon, Audri and Lane; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Jimmy Frye and Reverend Steve Hutton officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Methodist Church Cemetery, Nebo, Virginia. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
