Obituary of Madeline Pearson

RICH VALLEY, VIRGINIA: MRS. MADELINE GWYN PEARSON, age 81, died Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Virginia. She was born July 23, 1931 in Rich Valley, Virginia, the youngest daughter of the late John M. and Ivy Travis Gwyn. In 1964 she moved to Pennsylvania, returning to Virginia in 1986. She was a 1952 graduate of the College of William and Mary in Virginia and held Master's degrees from Kutztown University and Drexel University in Pennsylvania. She was a teacher - librarian. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pearson was preceded in death by her husband, Walter O. Pearson; sister, Carolyn Campbell; and brother, Rush C. Gwyn III. Mrs. Pearson is survived by several nieces and nephews who affectionately knew her as "Aunt Mattie". A Memorial Service will be held at the Chatham Hill Cemetery Association meeting in July, 2013.
