Obituary of Tony Sawyers

MARION, VIRGINIA: TONY PATRICK SAWYERS, age 41, died Sunday, November 11, 2012, after a brief illness at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tennessee. He was a member of Pugh Mountain Freewill Baptist Church; a graduate of the Marion Senior High School class of 1989 and Radford University class of 1996. Tony loved music and playing his guitar, especially bluegrass. He was a sports fan who loved to snowboard and skateboard. He was proud of his volunteer work in the community and loved helping his father lay brick. Tony is survived by his father and step-mother, Pete and Jean Sawyers; mother, Rebecca H. Sawyers, all of Marion, Virginia; twin sister, Missy S. Thomas of Chilhowie, Virginia; brothers, Jim Rogers and wife, Sarah of Crewe, Virginia and Mike Sawyers of Marion, Virginia; uncles, Kenneth Henderson of Kerens, Texas, Sidney Henderson of San Diego, California, Greg Sawyers of Clemmons, North Carolina and Robert Sawyers of Powhatan, Virginia; aunts, Helen Deatherage of Marion, Virginia, Loretta Blevins of Chilhowie, Virginia; special friend, Chris Fox of Marion, Virginia; several nieces and numerous cousins. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Darrell Pickle and Reverend Kenneth Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
