Obituary of Richard Robinson
MARION, VIRGINIA: RICHARD CONLEY ROBINSON, age 87, died Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Francis Marion Manor in Marion, Virginia.
He was a dedicated life time member of the First United Methodist Church. Richard served proudly during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a charter and lifetime member of Marion VFW Post #4667. He was also a very active supporter of the Smyth County Historical Society.
Richard is survived by his wife, Lois Sage Robinson; sisters, Betty Ann Slemp and husband, Harold, Thelma Kate Mathena and husband, Don, Eleanor Gay Martin and husband, Don, all of Marion, Virginia; brother, Walter R. Robinson of Salem, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Nina Blessing of Wytheville, Virginia, Clara Hodge and husband, Wallace, Maude Clyburn, Lauretta Smith and husband, June all of Rural Retreat, Virginia and Nancy Byrd Robinson of Roanoke, Virginia; brother-in-law, James Porter Sage and wife, Eleanor, of Rural Retreat, Virginia; and several special nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held Friday, October 5, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery with Reverend Jonathan Jonas officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
