Obituary of Ralph Rotenberry

MARION, VIRGINIA: RALPH "BUDDY" ROTENBERRY, age 74, passed away Monday, October 8, 2012 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Virginia. He was born in Kimball, West Virginia, December 10, 1937 to the late Luther and Lettie Rotenberry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas. Buddy served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on October 4, 1963. He worked for the Brunswick Corporation and Ford Supply Company and spent many years farming in the Smyth County area. He was a member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church in Teas, Virginia. Buddy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Russell Rotenberry of Marion, Virginia; one daughter Debra King and husband, Robbie; one grandson, Joshua King, all of Raleigh, North Carolina; one brother, Harold Rotenberry and wife, Donna of Abingdon, Virginia; three sisters Hope Thompson of Abingdon, Virginia, Pauline Phillips of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Judith Sweat and husband, Teddy of Marion, Virginia; special sister-in-law, Martha Randall and husband, Gene of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, October 11, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Layman Lavon Lowery and Reverend Kathy Haga officiating. Graveside Service will be held Friday, October 12, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in Pugh Cemetery, Teas, Virginia with Military Rites rendered by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Flowers will be appreciated or memorial donations may be made to Elizabeth United Methodist Church, c/o Carol Choate, 788 Teas Road, Sugar Grove, VA 24375.
