Obituary of Richard Long

CHILHOWIE, VIRGINIA --- RICHARD LEE LONG, age 83 died, Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Virginia. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Michael Long. He is survived by his wife, Joann S. Long of Chilhowie, Virginia; two step-daughters, Phyllis Stowers of Rural Retreat, Virginia and Shelia Cox of Independence, Virginia; one son, Richard W. Long of Roanoke, Virginia; one brother, Leonard Long and wife Barbara of Lexington, South Carolina; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend George Jessee officiating. Burial will follow in Grosses Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Chilhowie, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
