Obituary of Edna Sexton
MARION, VIRGINIA: EDNA MORRIS SEXTON, age 70, went to be with the
Lord at 11:17 pm on Thursday, August 30, 2012 at her home under the
care of Southern Illinois Hospice.
She was born on July 29, 1942 in Marion, VA, the daughter of Charles
Frank and Mary M. (Burchette) Morris.
She married Archie Lee Sexton. He preceded her in death.
Edna was an aide at Southwestern State Hospital in Marion, VA where
she retired early to move with her family to North Carolina, while in
North Carolina she continued to be employed in the textile industry
until her disability. She later moved to Illinois with her daughter.
She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,
sister and friend to many. She enjoyed collecting teapots and bird
houses.
Edna was a member of the Holiday Shores Baptist Church and devoted
servant of Jesus Christ who lived her faith openly.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marcia and
Greg Gaddy of Holiday Shores, Sarah and Sidney Mills of Lancaster, SC
and Leigh Deese of Lancaster, SC; seven grandchildren, Quinn Gaddy,
Matthew Gaddy, Kelly Hinson and her husband Ryan Hinson, and her
husband, Ryan, Emily Mills, Erika Faile and her husband Anthony, Megan
Deese and Lauren Deese; four great grandchildren, Lydia Hinson, Abby
Mehaffey, Kira Faile and Skyler Faile; four sisters, Mary Cale,
Marion, VA, Brenda Price of Chilhowie, VA, Linda Romine of Marion, VA
and Sherry "Punkin" Lindamoon of Marion, VA and her nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 pm on Monday, September 3, 2012 at
Holiday Shores Baptist Church where funeral services will be at 11 am
Tuesday, September 4, 2012 with Pastor Wes Pinkley officiating.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 2:00
p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Marion, Virginia with Pastor Tim Blevins
officiating.
