Obituary of Marguerite Kirk
MARION, VIRGINIA: Marguerite Yost Kirk passed away at home on the morning of May 8, 2012, at the age of 102.
She was born August 1, 1909, in Marion, Va. to George and Margaret Yost. Marguerite graduated from Marion High School and William and Mary College. In 1931 she married George J. Kirk. Marguerite was a homemaker and a teacher. She taught from preschool/ kindergarten to high school Latin and many classes in between. Marguerite lived in Marion for 87 years, then moved to York, in 1996 after the death of her husband. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist in Marion and Arbor Drive Community Church in York.
Surviving are her four children: Eleanor (Bill) Marr of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Winifred (Dick) Callahan of York; Richard Kirk of Philadelphia, Pa. and Marilyn Moniz of Virginia Beach, Va. She also leaves 11 grandchildren: David (Holly) Marr of Pennington, N.J.; Frann Marr of Duarte, Calif.; Sharyn (Paul ) Alexander of Saugerties, N.Y.; Jon (Connie) Callahan of York; Jennifer (Garlan) Schoenrock of Waynesville, Mo.; Laurel (Doug) Henrichsen of Hastings, Minn.; Karen Callahan of Oxford; Charlene(Brian) Hess of Minneapolis, Minn.; Kelly (Mike) Bohlman of Chesapeake, Va.; Trina (Nathan) Khol of Alexandria, Va.; and John Moniz of Dillwyn, Va.; also, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Seaver-Brown Funeral Home in Marion, Va. Burial follows at Round Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Funeral Home.
