Obituary of Robert Pennington

MARION, VIRGINIA: ROBERT "BOB" PENNINGTON, age 83, died Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Francis Marion Manor in Marion, Virginia. He was born February 2, 1929 in Konnarock, Virginia to the late Eli and Mae Hutton Pennington. Bob was a lifelong resident of Smyth County. He loved all sports, especially Little League and Marion Recreation Department events. He was employed for 18 years in the maintenance department at Smyth County Community Hospital and was also a skilled carpenter who built many homes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Georgia Pennington of Marion, Virginia; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Kay Pennington of Knoxville, Tennessee, Randy and Peggy Pennington of Marion, Virginia, Terry and Hattie Pennington of Sanford, Florida and Jeff and Shirley Pennington of Marion, Virginia; two sisters and brother-in-law, Kathleen and Curtis Anderson of Marion, Virginia and Geraldine Johnson of Seven Mile Ford, Virginia; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor David Tripp officiating. Graveside Services will be held Friday, April 20, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Laurel Cemetery in Konnarock, Virginia. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
