Obituary of James Box
MARION, VIRGINIA: JAMES P.BOX, age 67, died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Virginia.
He was an active member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church where he had held many positions within the church. He had served with the Marion Life Saving Crew for over 20 years and was given a lifetime membership. Mr. Box was a school bus driver with the Smyth County School System for more than 36 years. He was a farmer and took great pride in preserving the land and animals entrusted to him. He took exceptional care of the cows, goats, donkeys, horses, buffalos, dogs and cats that were fortunate to be under his stewardship. Mr. Box was an avid antique car and tractor collector with a special love of the Monte Carlo vehicle's.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everette H. and Vera Copenhaver Box.
James is survived by his wife, Linda Mumpower Box of Marion, Virginia; three daughters, Kimberly Box and James Muncy of Pulaski, Virginia, Gina Hall and husband, Jerry of Bristol, Tennessee and Jamie McHone and husband, Brian of Wytheville, Virginia; sister, Darleyne Atwell & husband, Archie of Ceres, Virginia; five grandchildren, Kimberlyn, Kathryn, KaiLei, Raymond and Sidney; two nephews, Charles Atwell and wife Melissa and their daughter, Maika, and Jim Atwell and wife, Jennifer and their children, Nathan, Bergandy and Abby.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Mike Sage and Reverend Emmitt Wilson officiating. Graveside Services will be held Monday, July 9, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Greenwood United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
