Obituary of Reverend Bauman

MARION, VIRGINIA: REVEREND FRANK BAUMAN, age 89, died Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tennessee. Benjamin Franklin Bauman was born October 11, 1922 in Henrietta Township, Ohio, to the late Benjamin and Mary Gayer Bauman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Warren Bauman. He was a graduate of Baldwin Wallace College and Drew Theological Seminary. Frank received the call to ministry at the age of sixteen, and he never faltered in his desire to serve the Lord. He first served in the New York Conference of the Methodist Church. He then spent five years as a missionary to Cuba where he met his wife Dixie, who was also a missionary. In 1956 he joined the Holston Conference of the Methodist Church. There he continued to serve the Lord in his life and through his retirement. He ministered in many churches in Virginia and Tennessee serving the East Marion Circuit from 1967 through 1975. Frank was a loving husband, father, grandfather and pastor. His smile was contagious and radiated the joy and love he felt for his family, friends, church and all God's children. He is survived by his wife, Dixie Briggs Bauman, of Marion, Virginia; one daughter, Mary Beth Graham, and husband, Tom, of Marion, Virginia; three sons, John Ben Bauman and wife, Ginny Cornick Bauman, of Mt. Sidney, Virginia, Kenneth Bauman and wife, Karen Wallen Bauman, of Lakewood, Ohio and Briggs Bauman and wife, Beth Weikel Bauman, of Danville, Virginia; one brother, Larry Bauman and wife, Lois, of Henrietta Township, Ohio; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 12, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church with the Reverend William Schoeneman and Reverend Jack Weikel officiating. Burial will follow in the Holston Conference Cemetery in Emory, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, 4329 Lee Highway, Marion, VA 24354. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
