Obituary of William Coalson

BRISTOL, VIRGINIA: WILLIAM LEE "BILL" COALSON, age 74, died Sunday, October 17, 2004 in Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tennessee. He was a native of Smyth County, Virginia and had resided in Bristol, Virginia since 1977. He was a graduate of Marion High School, attended RPI of the college of William and Mary and was of the Baptist Faith. Mr. Coalson was a veteran of the United States Army having served in Europe from 1948-1954 with the United States Constabulary-Border Squadron and Army Counter Intelligence Corp. A past President of Marion Civitan Club, and a past Lieutenant Governor of Appalachian District, Civitan International. He was also a member of Francis Marion VFW Post #4667, Army CIC Veterans, and US Constabulary Association, a former Treasurer of Marion, and retired from Reynolds Metals Co. Mr. Coalson was preceded in death by his parents, M. M. and Rachel V. Morris Coalson, a brother, Harry Coalson, and a sister, Shirley Fay Coalson. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Eleanor Harris Coalson of Bristol, Virginia. One daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia D. and Joe Thompson of Bristol, Virginia. One son, Steve C. Coalson of McKinney, Texas. Two very special granddaughters, Kaitlyn V. and Kinley H. Coalson both of McKinney, Texas. Six sisters, Ann Anderson of Wytheville, Virginia; Marilyn G. Barrett of Chester, Virginia; Mary Jane White of Hillsville, Virginia; Martha Kirby of Orlando Beach, Florida; Betty Jo McClure and Linda Shore both of Winchester, Virginia. One brother, Clifton C. Coalson of Marion, Virginia. Two special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gene and Betty Moser and Billy and Bev Day. Special nieces and nephew, Clara Jean Gaultney, Julie Taylor, Christy and Andrew Day. Two special great-nieces, Caroline and Leah Gaultney. Two special great-nephews, Logan and Luke Taylor. The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 20, 2004 evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, October 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Washington County, Virginia, where military rites will be conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667.
