Obituary of Gunnar French
MARION, VIRGINIA: GUNNAR KENNETH FRENCH, age 43, died Monday, February 13, 2012 at his home in Marion.
Gunnar was born in Ft. Pierce, Florida on January 20, 1969 to Joyce French and the late Edward French. In 1978 he moved to Troutdale, Virginia. At the age of 15 he became a dedicated junior firefighter and EMT on the Troutdale Fire Department and Rescue Squad. He served in several offices including assistant chief. He was a certified driver pump operator, training officer and fire fighter I, II and III. In 1987 he graduated from Independence High School and married Judy Rhea Scott. He began working at Mr. Casuals his senior year of high school and went on to be employed by Marley Wood Products, Royal Mouldings and most recently, IDC where he had worked since 2007.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne French.
Gunnar is survived by his mother, Joyce French of Marion, Virginia; sisters, Kathy Storman and Luanne Meadows, both of Troutdale, Virginia; aunts, Jeanette Dahl and husband, Dennis of Pocahontas, Iowa and Velva French of Ft. Pierce, Florida; nephew, Tony Storman of Ft. Pierce, Florida; and numerous cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, February 19, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Elder Jim Cox officiating. Private burial at Anderson Hill Cemetery in Troutdale. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:30 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
