Obituary of Clara Pafford
MARION, VIRGINIA: CLARA SPRINKLE PAFFORD, age 85, passed away in the early morning of November 11, 2011 after a long illness.
Clara was born on April 11, 1926, the only child of the late Conley C. and Mabel Oakes Sprinkle. She was a graduate of Marion College and for her entire career was the legal secretary for Attorney Ralph Repass and Judge Francis Hoge. Clara loved people and was known and loved by the many individuals who shared her work life over the years. Clara was a lifelong member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church. She was the past president of the United Methodist Women and a faithful church member who served in many capacities. An excellent cook, Clara generously shared her cooking talents for many church meals. Clara was an animal lover and especially enjoyed cats and helping Harlan raise Angus cattle on their farm.
She is survived by Harlan S. Pafford, her husband of 62 years and her devoted caregiver of Marion, Virginia; Mark Myers, whom she considered a son and his wife, Kristie; aunt, Audrey Sprinkle all of Marion, Virginia; brother-in-law, Donald V. Pafford and his wife, Pat of Amherst, Virginia; many first cousins including, Billie Oakes Cummings and her husband, Buddy, Walter L. Sprinkle, Jr. and his wife, Becky and E.T. Sprinkle and his wife, Peggy, all of Marion, Virginia; a very special friend and caregiver, who was like family, Della Robbins and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Emmitt Wilson and Reverend Neville Mozingo officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
